If you carry health insurance, it can still make financial and practical sense to see us at Aslan Health and simply pay the same-day self-pay amount. Here’s why.
1) You might actually spend less out of pocket
Many plans now have high deductibles and coinsurance. Until you meet that deductible, you often pay the full allowed amount of a visit—not just a copay.
Simple example
- Typical insurer “allowed amount” for a primary care visit (varies by plan/market): say $150–$220
- If your deductible isn’t met, you could owe that whole amount.
- At Aslan Health, most walk-in/acute primary-care visits are $75 same-day pay.
Even if you’ve met your deductible, coinsurance can be 10–40%. On a $180 allowed charge with 20% coinsurance, you’d still pay $36—and that’s before any facility fees or add-ons. Our pricing is transparent and upfront, and we discuss labs/testing costs before you agree to them.
Bottom line: for many insured patients—especially with high deductibles or coinsurance—our $75 visit can be the lowest, most predictable option.
2) Speed, access, and convenience
- Same-day care for common illnesses and minor injuries.
- Extended hours: evenings on select weekdays and Saturday mornings.
- No surprise facility fees and no “mystery bill” weeks later.
- Clear, simple checkout—and an itemized receipt will be posted to your Aslan patient portal once charting is complete (typically 1–2 weeks) so you can submit it to your insurer.
3) You can still submit a claim to your insurance
Insurers generally provide a way for members to submit out-of-network claims. Many patients choose to self-pay at Aslan Health, then submit the itemized receipt to their plan for possible reimbursement or for it to be applied to their deductible.
How to submit (typical process):
- Log into your Aslan patient portal about 1–2 weeks after your visit to download your itemized receipt (posted once charting is complete).
- Log into your plan’s member portal and look for “submit a claim,” “member reimbursement,” or “out-of-network claim.”
- Upload the itemized receipt and complete your plan’s short form.
- Save copies for your records and watch for your insurer’s acknowledgement.
Note: Every plan is different, and reimbursement isn’t guaranteed. Some plans apply these costs to your deductible; others may reimburse part of the visit. If your insurer requests additional details, let us know—we’ll help where we can.
4) HSA/FSA friendly
We accept HSA and FSA payments, which can make your $75 same-day visit even more affordable with pre-tax dollars.
5) Transparent, patient-first care
- Upfront pricing (including labs/tests discussed before you say “yes”).
- No rushed decisions—you’ll know the cost and options in plain language.
- Whole-person approach that respects your time, budget, and health goals.
Who should especially consider self-pay?
- You have a high-deductible plan and haven’t met your deductible.
- Your primary clinic has long waits or unexpected facility fees.
- You want same-day, no-surprises pricing.
- You prefer to use HSA/FSA funds and submit to insurance afterward.
When we bill insurance directly
Aslan Health currently accepts Medicaid and Medicare. If you’re covered by either, we’ll bill those programs directly. For commercial/private insurance, self-pay is usually the most straightforward—and often the most economical—path.
Quick FAQ
Will this count toward my deductible?
Many plans will apply out-of-network self-paid claims to your deductible once you submit your itemized receipt from the Aslan portal, but rules vary. Check your plan.
Can I be reimbursed?
Some plans reimburse part of out-of-network services; others just apply it to your deductible. The only way to know is to submit your claim or ask your insurer.
When will my itemized receipt be ready?
Once charting is completed, your itemized receipt is posted to the Aslan patient portal—typically within 1–2 weeks of your visit.
What about labs and tests?
We discuss prices before ordering labs or imaging so you can decide what fits your needs and budget.
At Aslan Health, we exist to care for our neighbors with affordable, high-quality, whole-person care. If you have insurance, you’re still welcome to choose our $75 same-day option and decide later whether to submit a claim—often saving time, stress, and money.
