Living in Harmony: Lessons from Romans 15 for Whole-Person Care at Aslan Health

At Aslan Health, our mission is to demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ through compassionate, whole-person care. As we serve our community, we often reflect on how Scripture guides our approach to healthcare and relationships. Romans 15 offers a profound message of unity, encouragement, and service that resonates deeply with our vision of “Caring for our Neighbors.”

Welcoming One Another (Romans 15:7)

“Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.”

This verse reminds us of the importance of hospitality and acceptance. At Aslan Health, we aim to create an environment where every individual feels valued and respected, regardless of their background, language, or life circumstances. Many of those we serve, particularly our uninsured and underserved neighbors, face barriers to healthcare that can make them feel unwelcome in traditional medical settings. We strive to break down these barriers by embodying Christ’s inclusive love, welcoming all who walk through our doors.

Building One Another Up (Romans 15:1-2)

“We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up.”

Paul’s call to serve others selflessly reflects our approach to whole-person care. Beyond addressing physical health, we prioritize emotional and spiritual well-being, offering support and encouragement to those burdened by life’s challenges. By collaborating with community partners and offering programs that address nutrition, movement, and social connections, we aim to strengthen individuals and families, helping them achieve a healthier and more fulfilling life.

Unity in Hope (Romans 15:5-6, 13)

“May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Unity is foundational to our work at Aslan Health. We believe that caring for our community requires a collaborative effort, involving healthcare providers, community members, volunteers, and supporters working together. This shared vision of bringing hope and healing glorifies God and strengthens the bonds within our community.

Paul’s prayer in verse 13 is especially powerful: “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” This hope fuels our mission and inspires us to persevere in serving others, trusting that God is at work in every aspect of our care.

Serving as Christ Served (Romans 15:3, 8-9)

“For Christ did not please himself, but as it is written, ‘The reproaches of those who reproached you fell on me.’”

Jesus’ example of humility and sacrificial love challenges us to serve selflessly. At Aslan Health, we model this through acts of kindness, whether providing medical care to uninsured patients, offering Spanish Bibles to those seeking spiritual nourishment, or partnering with local schools and organizations to meet pressing community needs. Each act of service is an opportunity to reflect Christ’s love and to glorify God through our work.

A Community of Hope and Healing

Romans 15 is a rich chapter that calls us to live in harmony, serve others selflessly, and abound in hope. These principles are at the heart of Aslan Health’s ministry. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve our community as a beacon of compassionate care, embodying the transformative power of faith in all we do.

As we continue to grow and expand our services, we invite you to join us in this mission. Whether through prayer, volunteering, or financial support, your partnership helps us fulfill our calling to care for our neighbors. Together, we can build a stronger, healthier community for the glory of God.
