International Day of Charity: Caring for Our Neighbors Starts Here

September 5 is the International Day of Charity—a global invitation to turn compassion into action. For us at Aslan Health, this day is more than a date on the calendar. It’s a reminder of why we opened our doors: to proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord and demonstrate His love by providing affordable, quality healthcare—especially for neighbors who face barriers to care.

“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give…for God loves a cheerful giver.” — 2 Corinthians 9:7

Why today matters

The International Day of Charity was created to encourage generosity and solidarity across the world. In Central Minnesota, generosity looks practical: helping a mom afford a check-up, a senior get their medications, or a student receive a sports physical so they can play this season. Charity transforms “someone should help” into “I will help.”

Charity in action at Aslan Health

Charity at Aslan Health is tangible, local, and whole-person. We serve everyone—regardless of income or insurance status—with a special focus on the ALICE population (Asset-Limited, Income-Constrained, Employed) and those who are uninsured or new to our community.

Here’s what that looks like:

  • Affordable, transparent visits. Same-day pay is discounted to $75, and we discuss lab/testing prices up front. We also offer a sliding scale and, for qualifying uninsured neighbors, care at no cost through our charitable care fund.
  • Access without obstacles. We’re a walk-in clinic with evening and Saturday morning hours, and we accept Medicaid and Medicare.
  • Language support & dignity. We serve a diverse, often Spanish-speaking community with warmth, respect, and clear communication.
  • Whole-person care. We attend to physical, emotional, and spiritual health—because healing is more than a prescription.
  • Prevention first. From school and sports physicals to screenings (including through Minnesota’s SAGE and Sage Plus programs), we help patients catch issues early and stay well.

A glimpse of impact

A young man came to us worried about a knee injury—but we learned he’d also been without insurance for months and had moderate asthma. Through our charitable partners and cost-conscious approach, we helped him secure both his rescue inhaler and daily medication—so he could return to school breathing freely. One visit. Real relief. A healthier future.

How your generosity makes a difference

Your support fuels lifesaving, life-stabilizing care. On this International Day of Charity, here are meaningful ways to help:

  1. Give
Make a one-time gift or become a monthly partner to sustain the charitable care fund that covers visits and essential services for neighbors in need. (Give online at aslanclinic.com.)
  2. Volunteer
From front-desk hospitality to behind-the-scenes support, volunteers extend our capacity to love and serve well—especially for our Spanish-speaking neighbors.
  3. Share & invite
Tell a friend, your church, or your workplace about Aslan Health. Introductions to local employers, ministries, and community groups help us reach people who might otherwise go without care.
  4. Pray
Pray that God would guide our team, protect our patients, and multiply the impact of every gift, hour, and act of service for His glory.
  5. Partner
Are you a local business or organization? Talk with us about sponsorships, employer-supported care, and collaborative outreach (like on-site screenings or school physicals).

What your gift can do

  • Help an uninsured neighbor receive primary care the same day they need it.
  • Provide essential screenings that catch disease early—when it’s most treatable and least costly.
  • Bridge language and cultural gaps so families feel seen, safe, and cared for.
  • Stretch limited household budgets by reducing emergency-room visits and avoidable hospitalizations.

Charity that points to Christ

At Aslan Health, charity is not only about meeting needs—it’s about reflecting Christ. We believe every person bears God’s image and deserves compassionate, dignified care. When we serve the sick, the stressed, and the overlooked, we do so in Jesus’ name—that He would receive the honor, not us.

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress…” — James 1:27
