Why Affordable Access to Primary Care Matters for Working Families in Central Minnesota
Caring for Our Neighbors — Body, Mind & Spirit
At Aslan Health, we see the families who make our community strong — the parents working two jobs to provide for their children, the young adults just beginning their careers, the grandparents caring for grandchildren, and the individuals who are rebuilding their lives with hope and courage.
Many fall into what is called the ALICE population — Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed.
They are working.
They are trying.
And yet, too often, healthcare feels out of reach.
Across Central Minnesota, rising medical costs, high deductibles, lack of insurance options, and limited appointment availability create real barriers to care. When people delay care because of cost or access, small problems grow into major health concerns — affecting families, workplaces, and our entire community.
At Aslan Health, we believe no one should have to choose between their health and their financial stability. And no one should face health challenges alone.
🌟 Aslan Health Is for Everyone — Not Just the Homeless or Migrant Population
While we are blessed to serve individuals facing significant barriers — including those experiencing housing instability and families new to the community — we want to be clear:
Aslan Health is for everyone.
We serve a wide range of patients, including:
- Teachers
- Construction workers
- Small business owners
- College students
- Young families
- Retirees
- Professionals with high-deductible plans
- People between insurance plans
You do not need to meet any special criteria to receive care at Aslan Health.
You do not need to be low-income or uninsured.
You simply need a need — and we will welcome you with compassion.
We focus on those who face barriers, yes — but everyone is our neighbor, and we believe Jesus calls us to care for all.
🌿 Why Affordable Primary Care Matters
Accessible primary care can change everything:
- Preventive care to catch issues early
- Chronic disease management including diabetes and hypertension
- Walk-in urgent care visits without long waits
- Cancer and heart screening programs
- Whole-person support — physical, emotional, and spiritual
We have seen firsthand how access saves lives and restores hope. For example, when the parents of a 4-year-old boy with Type 1 diabetes ran out of insulin with no insurance, we were able to provide a 90-day supply and help secure ongoing resources — thanks to the generosity of our supporters.
This is what loving your neighbor looks like.
💛 How Aslan Health Makes Care Affordable
We believe healthcare can be compassionate, dignified, and accessible. Our model includes:
✅ $75 same-day pay walk-in visits
✅ Sliding-scale fees based on income & family size
✅ Charitable care fund for qualifying individuals
✅ School-based sports physicals for students in need
✅ SAGE & SagePlus programs — free cancer & heart screenings
✅ Evening and Saturday hours for busy families
Most patients pay about 20% of the true cost, and generous donors cover the rest.
This allows us to care for everyone — regardless of insurance coverage or income.
✝️ Faith in Action: Healthcare with the Heart of Christ
To us, healthcare is not just clinical — it is ministry.
Jesus calls us to serve with compassion and dignity:
“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”
Galatians 6:2
Every patient encounter, every prayer, every moment of encouragement is an opportunity to demonstrate the love of Christ. We are humbled to care for the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of our neighbors — and to be a sanctuary of hope and healing in our community.
