One of the biggest healthcare problems in America today is not just the cost of care. It is delayed care.
Across the country, millions of people wait too long to seek medical attention. Some are uninsured. Others have insurance but face large deductibles or out-of-pocket costs. Many working families simply cannot afford to miss work or risk an unexpected medical bill. As a result, small health problems often become much larger ones.
At Aslan Health, we see this every day.
People delay care for high blood pressure, diabetes, infections, women’s health concerns, chronic pain, medication refills, and preventive screenings because they are worried about cost or unsure where they can go. Unfortunately, waiting often leads to more complicated and expensive health issues later.
Delayed Care Costs Everyone More
Preventive and primary care are almost always less expensive than emergency care.
A simple office visit today may prevent:
- An emergency room visit later
- A hospitalization
- A worsening chronic disease
- Time away from work
- Long-term complications
Yet many people still avoid primary care because the healthcare system has become difficult to navigate and increasingly expensive.
Even families with insurance are feeling the pressure. High-deductible plans, rising premiums, and larger out-of-pocket expenses mean many people now function essentially as self-pay patients until they meet their deductible.
For working families already balancing housing, food, childcare, transportation, and rising everyday costs, healthcare often gets pushed to the bottom of the list.
Trust and Access Matter
Healthcare is not only about insurance cards and billing systems. It is also about trust.
Many people delay care because:
- they worry about the cost,
- they have had negative healthcare experiences in the past,
- they struggle with language barriers,
- or they simply do not know where to turn.
When people feel welcomed, respected, and cared for, they are far more likely to seek care early instead of waiting until a health problem becomes severe.
That is one reason small neighborhood clinics continue to matter.
A Different Approach to Primary Care
At Aslan Health, we are trying to remove barriers that keep people from seeking care.
Our approach is intentionally simple:
- All appointments are $75 when paid the same day
- Transparent pricing with no surprise bills
- Walk-in and same-day availability
- Evening and Saturday hours
- Spanish-speaking care available
- Sliding scale support for qualifying patients
- Help connecting patients with community resources and programs
We believe affordable primary care should still exist in the community.
We also believe healthcare works best when it is personal. Patients should feel seen as people, not numbers. They should be able to ask questions, build relationships with their provider, and seek help before a situation becomes a crisis.
Caring for Our Neighbors
As a faith-based nonprofit clinic, our mission is rooted in caring for our neighbors and serving the community around us.
That includes:
- uninsured patients,
- working families,
- people with high deductibles,
- individuals between jobs,
- and those who simply need a more affordable option for care.
Healthcare challenges affect nearly every family in some way. The need for affordable, accessible primary care continues to grow, not only in large cities, but right here in Central Minnesota.
We are grateful for the churches, donors, volunteers, and community members who help make this work possible. Their support helps ensure that people can receive care earlier, before health concerns become larger and more costly problems.
Because when people can access care early, entire communities become healthier.
