In The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, C.S. Lewis gives us one of the most powerful portraits of Jesus through the character of Aslan, the mighty lion who rules Narnia. When the Pevensie children are told about Aslan for the first time, Susan expresses concern about meeting a lion:
“Aslan is a lion—the Lion, the great Lion.”
“Ooh,” said Susan. “I’d thought he was a man. Is he—quite safe? I shall feel rather nervous about meeting a lion.”
“Safe?” said Mr. Beaver. “Who said anything about safe? ‘Course he isn’t safe. But he’s good. He’s the King, I tell you.”
That line has stayed with readers for generations. It captures something true not only about Aslan but about Jesus Himself.
Jesus isn’t safe. But He is good.
He’s not a tame Savior. He doesn’t fit neatly into our expectations or stay politely on the sidelines. He flips tables in temples. He confronts sin and injustice. He leaves the ninety-nine to pursue the one. He speaks hard truths. He calls us to take up our cross and follow Him—not to safety, but to life.
“Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle!”
— Psalm 24:8
“Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.”
— Matthew 10:34
“Then Jesus said to His disciples, ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.’”
— Matthew 16:24
Here at Aslan Health, that truth is foundational. We don’t serve a passive Savior. We serve the living Christ—who walks into brokenness and brings wholeness, who touches the untouchable, and who sees each person with dignity and compassion. His goodness isn’t soft or sentimental. It’s bold, brave, and full of love that goes to the cross and rises again.
“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor… to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives… to comfort all who mourn.”
— Isaiah 61:1–2
And that’s the kind of care we aim to reflect.
We are not here to offer easy answers or temporary relief. We are here to walk alongside people in the hard places—those who are underserved, uninsured, or unseen. We believe true healing happens when we care for the whole person: body, mind, and spirit. It’s not always comfortable. It’s not always “safe.” But it is good.
“Surely He took up our pain and bore our suffering… and by His wounds we are healed.”
— Isaiah 53:4–5
Jesus doesn’t promise us safety. He promises us Himself.
“In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
— John 16:33
At Aslan Health, we’re following the Lion—not because it’s easy, but because He’s good.
