“Everything Comes From You”: A Reflection on Generosity, Stewardship, and Care for Our Neighbors
“But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand.”
1 Chronicles 29:14 (NIV)
In 1 Chronicles 29, King David pauses in the middle of a moment of incredible generosity. The people of Israel had given freely and joyfully toward the work God had set before them. Yet David’s response is not pride or self-congratulation. Instead, it is humility.
He reminds the people—and himself—that everything they gave was already God’s.
This verse captures a powerful truth that shapes how we live, how we give, and how we serve: we are not owners, we are stewards.
Generosity Begins With Humility
True generosity doesn’t begin with abundance; it begins with humility. David’s words recognize that no matter how much we give—time, resources, skills, or finances—we are simply returning what God has already placed in our hands.
At Aslan Health, this truth grounds everything we do. Our clinic exists not because of any one person’s effort, but because God has faithfully provided through many people who were willing to say, “What I have is Yours.”
Every volunteer hour, every donated dollar, every prayer, and every act of encouragement reflects this same posture of humility and trust.

Healthcare is deeply personal. When someone walks through our doors, they often carry fear, uncertainty, or past experiences of being overlooked or priced out of care. We believe stewardship in healthcare means using what God has entrusted to us to serve each person with dignity, compassion, and respect.
For us, stewardship looks like:
- Providing affordable, high-quality primary care
- Removing financial and practical barriers to care
- Meeting people where they are, without judgment
- Offering whole-person care that recognizes physical, emotional, and spiritual needs
We do not see generosity as a transaction. We see it as an act of obedience and love.

King David’s prayer was not spoken in isolation—it was spoken on behalf of a community. Generosity is never meant to be carried alone. It is something God invites His people into together.
Aslan Health is sustained by a community of supporters who believe that no one should have to choose between paying for healthcare and paying for rent or groceries. And just like David acknowledged, what we give is only what God has first given to us.
