Why Breast Cancer Screening Matters
According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in the United States, aside from skin cancers. About 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. But when caught early, breast cancer is highly treatable.
Mammograms can detect breast cancer years before symptoms appear, giving women a better chance of successful treatment and survival. In fact, the 5-year relative survival rate for localized breast cancer (found only in the breast) is 99%.
What Is the Sage Program?
The Sage Program provides free breast and cervical cancer screenings to women who meet income and age guidelines. If you qualify, Sage covers:
- Mammograms
- Clinical breast exams
- Pelvic exams and Pap tests
- Follow-up diagnostic testing, if needed

Who Qualifies for Sage?
You may qualify for Sage if you:
- Are between the ages of 40–64 (younger if you have symptoms or are at higher risk)
- Don’t have health insurance, or your insurance doesn’t cover these screenings
- Meet certain income guidelines
